Description:

Since 1929, The Seeing Eye has partnered with people who are blind who seek to enhance their independence, dignity, and self-confidence through the use of Seeing Eye dogs. Over the past 80 years, nearly 15,000 of these specially bred and trained dogs have brought a new level of mobility, safety, and self-sufficiency to over 8,000 visually impaired men and women.

From its state-of-the-art Breeding Station and its authoritative puppy-raising methods, to its pioneering instruction and training procedures, the programs The Seeing Eye offers all have one common goal: The empowerment of people who are blind.

Join us on June 15th to learn more about the history, philosophy, programs and services of The Seeing Eye, the oldest dog guide school in North America, celebrating its 80th anniversary this year.

Ray Kornman, Outreach Specialist, will describe the Seeing Eye’s training program, the application process, as well as the rights and responsibilities of dog guide users. Mr. Kornman will also discuss the Seeing Eye’s use of GPS technology in their dog guide training curriculum and provide information about the school’s GPS loaner program.
